The Complete Book of Surf Fishing

I bought the book believing i will learn a lot, however i did not learn as much as expected.
Pros:
*Nice pictures and good quality paper.
*Easy to read and fun on a rainy day.
*Low cost.
*Recommendations about the tackle, the best of the book.
*A few pictures about casting

Cons:
*No drawings about fishing line or fishing strategies. Only drawings availables are at Appendix 2 and are about knots for hooks, not for lures, and are pictures no drawings.

The Art of Surfcasting with Lures

This book is for persons who are already into surf fishing, but are looking to advance their lure fishing skills beyond the basics. The author is clearly not a professional writer and this book could have benefited from tighter editorial oversight, but the author is obviously hard-bitten and seems to really know his stuff. You won't find much in here on basic casting or how to tie knots. What you will find are detailed instructions on what lures to buy and when and how to use them. You'll also find advice for surviving in the surf, in all conditions, at all times of the day or night.

I recently started fishing quite a bit of the cape and found this book to be an excellent resource. There are some parts where directions are somewhat vague, but it basically gets you in the area. I have also fished a little bit of Ct and NJ, and found most of the information accurate and insightful. Cross reference with other resources and you should find fish and parking.
